Economy Minister discusses bilateral economic cooperation with U.S. State Department official

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, held discussions with Peter Andreoli, a representative of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and Alan Purcell, the acting U.S. Ambassador to Georgia.

According to the Ministry of Economy’s press service, the meeting focused on the priorities of economic collaboration between Georgia and the United States, highlighting opportunities for American investment in major infrastructure projects and the expansion of trade relations.

“The Georgian side conveyed its interest and optimistic outlook regarding the renewal of strategic partnership with the United States and the realignment of relations. It was emphasised that this process will foster positive developments in the economic ties between the two nations.

During the discussions, the participants examined Georgia’s investment opportunities in key sectors such as energy, transportation, and logistics. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening Georgia’s position within the Middle Corridor. The conversation also centred on significant projects including port infrastructure development, railway modernisation, and the new Tbilisi International Airport. The full operation of these projects is expected to considerably boost Georgia’s competitiveness as a key player in the Middle Corridor,” the Ministry stated.

The Minister also briefed the American delegation on the current progress and plans for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project. The U.S. representative was taken to the construction site, where he was introduced to the government’s strategic vision for the port’s development.

Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani, were also present at the meeting.
