EC Spokesperson: EU respects Georgian culture, identity

“The allegations on the European Union punishing Georgia for traditional family values is not true. The US respects Georgian culture and identity,” said European Commission Spokesperson Markus Lammer.

According to Markus Lammer, the EU supports Georgia’s sovereignty.

“The EU is a supporter of Georgia’s sovereignty. It respects Georgian culture and identity. Protection of human rights, support and realization are the key principles of the EU-Georgia cooperation. These values are the commitment shared by both the EU and Georgia.

In this context, the EU supports democratic reforms and fundamental human rights for all, including anti-discrimination protections,” he said.
