“The spread of the new coronavirus and its impact on the global economy, including the Georgian economy, is not the matter of exact mathematics,”  – said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, after a government meeting.

Media representatives asked the Minister how much the Georgian economy suffered losses from the ban on air traffic with Iran and China due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus.

“A lot depends on the dynamics of the spread of the virus and the decisions of other countries, these issues are not under our control. Therefore, the numbers and expectations are changing, although we can repeat the already mentioned number – over the first two months, due to the restriction and interruption of tourist traffic in several countries,  our tourism industry has been damaged by more than 30 million GEL, but this is not an accurate figure”, – said the Minister of Economy.
