Under the proposed legislative amendments, individuals taking part in gatherings or demonstrations that may be terminated at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) could face administrative detention of up to 60 days.

The leader of the parliamentary majority, Irakli Kirtskhalia, stated during a briefing held after Monday’s majority session that, according to the planned changes to the Code of Administrative Offences, anyone found possessing weapons, pyrotechnics, or objects used to harm the lives and health of others during a gathering could also be subjected to administrative detention of up to 60 days.
