Draft law stipulates rise in vehicle service fees for exported or re-exported foreign-bought vehicles

The Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is set to increase fees for certain services relating to vehicles being transported in transit through Georgia to foreign destinations, as well as cars purchased by foreign nationals for export or re-export. The relevant amendments were presented at today’s session of the Parliamentary Bureau.

The draft legislation specifies that the fee increases apply solely to the issuance of external transit number plates for vehicles in transit through Georgia bound for foreign countries, and to vehicles purchased in Georgia by foreign nationals for export or re-export from Georgia.

Specifically: the fee for issuing a transit number plate will be set at GEL 370, compared to the current rate of GEL 50; the expert inspection fee, including the preparation of the relevant certificate, for one unit of vehicle or one unit of agricultural machinery auxiliary equipment intended for withdrawal from Georgian customs territory under export or re-export procedures will be set at GEL 180 instead of GEL 100; the expert inspection fee, including the preparation of the relevant certificate, for one unit of vehicle or one unit of agricultural machinery auxiliary equipment intended for removal from Georgian customs territory under export or re-export procedures, conducted at the request of an interested party outside the premises of the Agency’s structural unit, will be set at GEL 200 instead of GEL 130; the Agency’s fee for completing customs declarations or registration certificates for vehicles intended for export or re-export procedures, and/or for providing information (documents) related to the application of customs procedures or re-export to the Revenue Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and/or for recording relevant data in the automated database, will be set at GEL 200 instead of GEL 130.

In addition to the above, the draft legislation establishes new services. Specifically, the issuance of transit number plates for vehicles intended for removal from Georgian customs territory under export or re-export procedures, for which the service fee is set at GEL 150.
