Doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili, charged with an attempt to seize a strategic facility and participation in group violence, was imposed GEL 20, 000 bail as a preventive measure, while Giorgi Muladze, an individual detained along with Chakhunashvili, was sentenced to imprisonment.

Judge Valerian Bugianishvili of the Tbilisi City Court announced the decision shortly ago.

The Prosecutor’s Office has submitted a motion to the court, requesting the imposition of imprisonment as a penalty for the indicted individuals in the case of the October 4 events.

Regarding Giorgi Chakhunashvili, however, taking into account various objective circumstances, the Prosecutor’s Office said it would instead seek his release on bail rather than detention.

Giorgi Chakhunashvili will leave jail after he pays the bail. He can pay the amount within a 30-day term. As lawyer Giorgi Gelkhauri stated, Giorgi Chakhunashvili’s family plans to pay bail today.
