Directors of Georgian Air Companies waiting for official info on ceasefire in Sudan
Georgian citizens, who are employees of two Georgian air companies, stay in Sudan. Directors of the air companies said that they are waiting for the official information on a ceasefire in Sudan from the Foreign Ministry and the UN to start evacuation. The Georgian citizens are safe and have food supplies.
“As soon as we know that the sky is safe and it is possible to fly, we will technically inspect the planes to prepare for departure,” said Rati Bakuridze, Director of MyWay Airlines.
Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group agreed on a 72-hour ceasefire until the end of Kurban Bayramı. In the meantime, humanitarian corridors will be opened to evacuate the civilians.
Sudan’s military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group have been engaged in fierce fighting since April 15. The battle for key sites left over 400 civilians dead. Residents struggle with power cuts and food and potable water shortages in the capital Khartoum.
