Deputy Governor of Vake district detained on charge of assisting in bribe-taking
Teimuraz Chochua, Deputy Governor of Vake district, has been arrested for assistance to a citizen in taking a large amount of bribe.
It has been announced at the briefing held at the State Security Service today that Teimuraz Chochua helped Grigol Ivaneishvili, chairman of Tskaltubo municipal council, to contact a foreign businessman who was interested in purchasing a former building of Tskaltubo municipal council.
“Investigation established that Teimuraz Chochua helped Grigol Ivaneishvili, chairman of the Tskaltubo municipal council, to contact a foreign businessman who was interested in purchasing a former building of Tskaltubo municipal council.
Grigol Ivaneishvili promised assistance to the businessman in purchasing the building through auction at a pre-agreed price. In return, he demanded to 250 000 GEL as a bribe,” a representative of the State Security Service said at the briefing.
In turn, Teimuraz Chochua assisted Grigol Ivaneishvili in getting the 16% share of the foreign businessman’s company as a guarantee. The detainee faces prison term from 11 to 15 years if convicted.
