Deputy FM: Some 170–180 Georgian citizens remain in Middle East; decision on next special flight expected within hours

Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Khatuna Totladze has stated that approximately 170 to 180 Georgian citizens are currently in the Middle East region, expressing confidence that a decision on the next special evacuation flight would be reached within the coming hours.

She added that procedures are underway, following which the public will be officially informed of the precise date and time of the next additional special flight.

“To date, three special flights have been operated from the Middle East on the Georgian government’s initiative, two from the Sultanate of Oman and one from Saudi Arabia, bringing over 500 Georgian citizens safely home. We are actively working on further flights, and once the relevant procedures are concluded, we will make a formal public announcement confirming the exact timing of the next departure.

As you are aware, we are strongly encouraging all citizens in the region to stay in contact with Georgian embassies and to register with them. This will help us determine how many individuals may require state assistance.

As of this moment, that figure stands at approximately 170 to 180 citizens in the Middle East. We are very hopeful that a concrete decision on the next flight will be reached within the coming hours,” Totladze stated.
