Deputy Finance Minister: Georgia fulfils internationally imposed sanctions

“There has been no confirmed fact for over one year that Georgia bypasses internationally set sanctions, and it will not happen in the future,” said Giorgi Kakauridze, Deputy Finance Minister.

According to Kakauridze, Georgia works with relevant agencies of partner countries from the US and EU to ensure the implementation of sanctions.

“No permit has been issued on a dual-purpose product, and none entered the territory of Russia. O’Brien (Head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination in the Biden administration) sees the existing risks because Georgia borders with Russia. That is why we are more oriented on customs procedures ensuring strict control in order not a single Georgian or transit company violated the sanctions,” he said.

Kakauridze also ruled out the possibility that the 11th package of sanctions, which the European Union is preparing, affected Georgia.

“Georgia perfectly implements the sanctions imposed by ten packages, and it is impossible for Georgia to appear on the list, no matter whose wish it might be,” said Giorgi Kakauridze.
