Economy Minister holds talks with Maritime Passport leadership on digital transformation and Middle Corridor expansion

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili has met with Peter Phillips and Martin White, founder and director of Maritime Passport.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, discussions focused on the digital transformation of Georgia’s maritime sector, the implementation of innovative technologies, and the exchange of international best practices.

It was noted that Georgia aims to leverage Maritime Passport’s expertise and technical capabilities to upgrade its maritime digital infrastructure.

The talks also highlighted Georgia’s strategic location and the growing importance of the Middle Corridor transit route.

Martin White also represented Stream Marine Group, while Peter Phillips is a member of the British Royal Family. The bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines of the ongoing Georgia International Maritime Forum (GIMF 2026) in Batumi.

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze; Director of the Maritime Transport Agency, Ivane Abashidze; and Georgia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Ilia Darchiashvili, also attended the meeting.
