Deputy Economy Minister: Georgian products' placement on Alibaba.com creates unique opportunities for global access
Irakli Nadareishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, believes that the launch of placing Georgian products on Alibaba.com with state support is part of the government’s policy to support exports.
According to the Deputy Minister, the agreement concluded between the Produce in Georgia Agency and Alibaba creates unique opportunities for Georgian entrepreneurs and exporters to access their products globally.
“Support of exports is the top priority of the government’s policy to assist entrepreneurship and businesses. The government has established various programs and tools within the Produce in Georgia program. These include technical assistance, participation in international fairs, grant programs and diverse training. We are expanding this spectrum with the opportunity of placing Georgian products on Alibaba.com,” he said.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the initial phase will see up to 50 Georgian companies registered on the platform. The Produce in Georgia Agency will fully cover the annual membership fee. Georgian firms, backed by the Produce in Georgia agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, will join the world’s leading B2B e-commerce platform Alibaba.com. Georgian companies will benefit from the so-called Global Gold Supplier status – a type of verification that increases trust in companies and helps potential buyers make informed decisions.
