Deputy Economy Minister: Georgian international airports achieve record passenger numbers in Q1 2025

The first four months of this year marked a remarkably successful period for Georgia’s aviation industry. All three international airports together served approximately 2.2 million passengers—a 13 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

Significantly, this figure represents a historic high for the country’s aviation sector, stated Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili.

She noted that the number of flights operated at Georgian airports has also risen, with a 16 per cent increase.

“This demonstrates that Georgia continues to be a popular tourist destination. This year, four new airlines—British Airways, EasyJet, Edelweiss, and Transavia France—have joined our aviation market. This expansion means increased flight frequencies and access to strategically important countries, which will boost passenger traffic and tourist flows. The Georgian government is actively negotiating with key international airlines to attract even more carriers to our aviation and tourism sectors,” Kvrivishvili explained.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister announced that Air Serbia will soon begin operating regular flights connecting Tbilisi and Belgrade.

“All of these developments will contribute to strengthening our vital tourism and aviation sectors, positively impacting the country’s economy,” Mariam Kvrivishvili concluded.
