Defense Minister reports to Parliament

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Tuesday reported to the Parliament in the Minister’s Hour format.

The Minister praised the efforts and dedication of Georgian soldiers, saying they served outstandingly in international peace missions, contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic together with the civic sector, and participated in different disaster elimination works.

“Being a soldier of your country is a matter of pride requiring daily efforts and dedication,” he said.

eleJuansher Burchuladze reviewed the aggressive and violent actions of the Russian Federation in the region, thereby trying to lead geopolitical interests and limit access to the Black Sea region for NATO and the European Union. He stressed the army’s role in light of the government’s pragmatic policy.

“The Georgian army and its capabilities are one of the important cornerstones of our country’s strength,” he remarked.  The Minister also spoke about purchasing and modernizing military equipment, and strengthening intelligence capabilities, while keeping in mind “trends of modern wars.”

“We continue to develop the Georgian military industry,” he stressed.

As Juansher Burchuladze underscored, the Ministry of Defence continues cooperating with NATO and the US and is implementing existing political formats and practical mechanisms effectively.
