During his address, Defence Minister Chikovani thanked representatives of the Georgian government and the Patriarchate for their support of the military camp program and emphasized the project’s significance.
“We are proud that the Military Camp has proven itself and today it is a successful project with growing interest. Over the past three years, we have already hosted several thousand students, both at the Kojori Sergeants Academy and at the Sachkhere Mountain Training School. We are trying to make this project more diverse from year to year and load it with more content,” Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani declared.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the summer camp participants were also addressed by President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and Education, Science and Youth Minister Alexandre Tsuladze. They spoke about the importance of fostering patriotic spirit among the younger generation and wished the participants success.
The Ministry also reports that after the event, government members toured specialized training facilities including medical, engineering, fire and mountain training operations command centres, as well as military personnel individual equipment and “unmanned aerial vehicle” training spaces. The guests also attended competitions between teams navigating obstacle courses.
Parallel to Kojori, the Military Camp also opened at the Sachkhere Mountain Training School. This year, the Military Camp will host approximately 1,700 students from grades 9, 10, and 11 across eight rotations in total. The Kojori and Sachkhere camps will accommodate up to 100 children in each six-day rotation.
For the third year, the Defence Ministry, together with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, has been implementing the Military Camp project aimed at raising patriotic spirit among the younger generation, promoting healthy lifestyles, and increasing awareness about the Georgian military.
