Crime rate drops in Georgia during first half of 2025, Interior Ministry says
According to data published on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of registered crimes in Georgia decreased by 795 cases (a 2.96% drop) in the first six months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The crime detection rate also saw improvement, reaching 66.16%.
Law enforcement identified 3,919 drug-related crimes during the reporting period – an increase of 29% compared to the first half of the previous year. As a result of intensified police operations, 263 individuals were charged with illegal drug distribution, nearly double the number from the same timeframe in 2024.
Crimes against property also declined, including reductions in burglary, robbery, fraud, extortion, and embezzlement.
There were fewer reports of sexual crimes, trafficking, offenses involving minors, cybercrime (down by 80 cases), and corruption-related offenses (down by 46 cases).
However, the report notes an uptick in cases of intentional grievous bodily harm and traffic-related offenses. Violations of road safety and vehicle operation rules increased by 175 incidents. Despite these challenges, the clearance rate for these crimes has improved.
