Court proceedings of GPB’s Bookshelf program participants underway

Court proceedings are ongoing at the Tbilisi City Court for individuals administratively detained during the protest rally on Rustaveli Avenue.

Among the detainees are three participants from the GPB First Channel program ‘Bookshelf’: Sandro Metreveli, Nika Beridze, and Nika Svanidze.

Nika Beridze was released a few minutes ago with a verbal warning. Sandro Metreveli was fined 2,300 GEL and strongly disputes the court’s decision, asserting that law enforcement initiated the violence.

Nika Svanidze’s court hearing is underway. Other project participants are present in the courtroom, offering solidarity and support to the detainees. They claim that all three participants suffered injuries during the incident.
