Container block trains launched on Poti-Tbilisi-Poti route

Georgian Railway has introduced regular container block trains operating four times weekly on the Poti-Tbilisi-Poti route, running according to a predetermined schedule.

According to Georgian Railway, the first block train arrived at Tbilisi Dry Port today.

“It will depart from Poti at 21:30 and arrive in Tbilisi at 09:47. As a result, cargo owners will be able to transport containers from the port to Tbilisi in the shortest time possible, regardless of block train loading capacity. Cargo owners will know in advance the container departure time and delivery schedule to the terminal.

The first block train arrived at Tbilisi Dry Port today. It was met on-site by Georgian Railway’s Director General, Head of Cargo Transportation, the founder of Dry Port, and the director of MSC Georgia. The parties noted that this represents a simplified logistics service for cargo owners, who will receive their containers in Tbilisi and Poti at designated times without delays,” Georgian Railway stated.
