Constituencies elect 24,110 heads, members of precinct commissions, announce competition for 298 seats
Election constituencies elected 24,110 heads and members of precinct commissions and announced another competition for 298 vacant seats, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported.
According to the CEC, the elected individuals fully meet legislation requirements and administrative standards. The election administration further clarified that the elected members are certified and have experience in administering elections.
“Among the elected persons, 22,631 have experience working as a member of a precinct election commission and have participated at least once in the last nine general elections, which is 93.87% of the total number,” the CEC said.
The CEC noted that the majority of the elected members participated in the CEC educational projects.
“Of the newly elected members, 18,677 are participants of the Election Administering Courses, 1,976 are alumni of the Election Development Schools, and 538 are graduates of Youth Camps, which upgrades professional standards of the election process.
At the same time, all this confirms that the process for staffing precinct commissions was held transparently and in a competitive environment. Those wishing to participate in the competition for the selection of precinct commission heads and members had the opportunity to apply to the relevant district election commission from August 11 to 14, or submit applications online through a special platform (Konkursi.cec.gov.ge).
The CEC received 24,314 applications for 24,408 vacant seats in 3,051 precinct commissions, among them 9,117 individuals wished to head the commissions, while 15,197 applied for vacant member seats.
