ComCom issues warnings to Formula TV, Formula Multimedia, and Radio Stations, orders cessation of foreign funding
“The Communications Commission (ComCom) has issued written warnings to television broadcasters Formula and Formula Multimedia, as well as radio broadcasters Journalists’ Union People’s Voice, Radio-TV Nori and System Gama for violations of Georgia’s Law on Broadcasting, and has ordered them to cease receiving funding from foreign powers,” the Communications Commission announced.
According to the ComCom, in the second quarter of 2025, LLC Formula Multimedia received GEL 1,336,675 from the Cyprus-registered legal entity INFINITY CV GROUP CY LTD. During the same period, Formula received GEL 463,000 from Formula Multimedia.
According to ComCom information, it was established from the statistical report forms submitted to the Communications Commission by Formula and Formula Multimedia that the sum received by Formula from Formula Multimedia constituted a loan. In turn, the amount received by Formula Multimedia from INFINITY CV GROUP CY LTD also constituted a loan. It was also established from the report that, apart from funding received from the foreign-registered legal entity INFINITY CV GROUP CY LTD, Formula Multimedia has no other significant income.
“Given that the broadcasters received the aforementioned funding after April 1, 2025, when an amendment entered into force in Georgia’s Law on Broadcasting prohibiting direct or indirect funding of broadcasters by foreign powers, and moreover, the said funding does not fall within the exceptions provided for by law (commercial advertising, teleshopping, sponsorship and product placement in programmes), the Communications Commission has issued written warnings to Formula and Formula Multimedia and ordered them to cease receiving funding from INFINITY CV GROUP CY LTD,” states the Communications Commission.
According to the Commission, for breaching the same law, the Communications Commission has issued warnings to Journalists’ Union – People’s Voice, Radio-TV Nori, and System Gama radio broadcasters, and instructed them to cease accepting funding from foreign powers.
