Coalition for Change's Japaridze: Diverse protest formats essential, but rallies on Rustaveli Avenue must continue
“Protests may take on different forms, but what is happening on Rustaveli Avenue must continue,” stated Zurab Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change.
According to Japaridze, the citizens who have rallied for ten days now acknowledge that the country’s democratic choice has been undermined.
He noted that last night, participants expressed disappointment regarding the diminished momentum and turnout compared to previous days; however, he emphasized that all protests are characterized by cycles. Nevertheless, the demonstrators are united in their resolve that Georgia should not be “a part of Russia.”
Zurab Japaridze believes that the protests should persist, as those who have sacrificed their health, lives, and freedoms continue to place their hope in opposition political parties and that the struggle will continue.
“There is no issue if on some days the number of participants declines; it is not problematic if there are fewer displays, such as fireworks, on Rustaveli. What truly matters is that we continue to protest regardless, and we must commit to doing so,” Japaridze concluded.
