City Court questions two Special Task Force officers in case of 11 individuals accused of group violence

The Tbilisi City Court interrogated two officers from the Special Task Force as witnesses in the case involving actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze, and nine others accused of group violence.

Officer Giorgi Gobronidze recounted that he was struck by pyrotechnics on November 29, sustaining burns on his back, though he was unable to specify who fired.

“I was on Chichinadze Street on November 29, together with other officers, when I was injured. The protesters threw stones, sticks, and cans. I was hit in the back. Protesters threw various objects, but I cannot say who fired in my direction. I received third-degree burns and was taken to Khechinashvili Clinic. I was hit by a piece of pyrotechnics flying from the side of the rally participants,” Gobronidze explained.

Another officer from the Special Task Force, Lasha Gelashvili, told the court that he had been struck by a stone in his leg.

“A stone hit my right ankle, I fell down, and my leg was bruised. They applied plaster, and first aid was rendered by the medical team. An ambulance was present, and I received assistance. It was midnight, and I was at Caucasus Medical Centre by 2 a.m.,” he stated.
