Cell phone number can be updated via hotline for video penalty SMS

The Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has simplified the process of updating the mobile phone number in the database of customers in order to timely inform citizens about video penalties, – the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

According to the agency, with the maximum protection of personal data, all users are able to remotely change their own mobile phone number in the database.

To change the telephone number, the vehicle owners should contact the service agency, hotline – 2 41 91 91.

According to new regulations:

  • The offender shall be notified about the offense immediately upon the fixing of the penalty with an SMS;
  • After the reception the SMS on a video penalty related to the offense in road safety an individual shall enjoy 20% benefit if he/she pays the penalty within 10 calendar days from the day of the SMS;
  • In case if an individual fails to pay for the video penalty within 10 calendar days from the day of the SMS, the slip shall be sent to him/her to his/her place of registration by a mail;
  • In case of non-delivery of the video penalty according to the place of registration the slip shall be sent again to the relevant individual within the period from 30 to 60 days;
  • In case of failure to deliver the video slip by a mail twice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia shall ensure the publication of the slip on its official website: www.police.ge;
  • The penalty slip shall be deemed to be delivered to the relevant person on the 30th day from the day of its publication;
  • The penalty imposed for a violation recorded on a video or the photo shall be paid by the individual within 30 days from the day of the delivery of the slip; in case of failure of payment, it shall be accrued a fine; in the event of failure to pay for the fine, the rule of the compulsory enforcement set forth by the legislation of Georgia shall be applied;
  • The six-month period of limitation set for the offenses recorded in the video or photo has been increased up to 1 year.
