CEC Chair briefs international organisations and diplomatic corps on election preparations
The Central Election Commission Chairman, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, convened a meeting with representatives of international organisations and diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia to discuss the ongoing election process.
According to the CEC, opening the session, Kalandarishvili provided a comprehensive overview of the current election-related issues and the preparations underway for the upcoming October 4 elections.
The CEC Chair emphasised that the election administration is actively working to ensure the October 4, 2025, elections are conducted in strict accordance with international standards. This involves a series of significant and large-scale initiatives aimed at upholding transparency and accountability, the core principles guiding the CEC’s work.
“Today’s meeting with representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations allowed us to present detailed information about our preparations for the October 4 elections. We discussed the extensive work we are undertaking and the ongoing efforts to administer the elections at a highly professional level. This dialogue provided an opportunity for a thorough exchange of information and questions,” Kalandarishvili stated.
“Our commitment to transparency and openness means that such meetings will continue in the future, fostering ongoing cooperation with international partners and other stakeholders,” the CEC Chair added.
The CEC also outlined key topics, including the registration of electoral subjects, the voter registration process, election observation, media involvement, the staffing and training of election commissions, voter information campaigns, and the introduction of innovations aimed at voters and political parties.
An active discussion ensued, with representatives of diplomatic and international organisations posing questions, which Kalandarishvili and Deputy Chairman Giorgi Sharabidze addressed. The meeting underscored the election commission’s dedication to not only conducting internal preparations effectively but also fostering transparent, coordinated, and inclusive collaboration with international partners.
“This gathering demonstrates that the election administration prioritises not only the efficient management of the electoral process but also open communication and constructive cooperation with international organisations.
