Catholicos of Armenia expresses sorrow over loss of lives in Shovi disaster
Catholicos of All Armenians and the supreme head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Garegin II, expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the Shovi resort of Georgia.
“Armenian Apostolic Church offers condolences to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, families of the victims, Georgian people and prays that God gives comfort and relief to the relatives of the deceased, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” reads the letter.
The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of Oni Municipality rose to 24 on August 11. Nine people are still missing, and rescue efforts continue at various locations.
