Border Police apprehend four foreign nationals for illegal border crossing
Following operational measures and investigative efforts at the “Matsimi” patrol section of the Lagodekhi Division of the Border Police, officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained four foreign nationals identified as A.M., born in 2005, S.A., born in 2003, M.A., born in 2003, and M.H., born in 2002, for attempting to cross the Georgian border illegally in a group.
This offence is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment.
Investigations have established that the suspects, bypassing official border checkpoints, unlawfully crossed the Georgian border as a group from the Republic of Azerbaijan into Georgia.
The case is currently under investigation under Part 2 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which relates to the illegal crossing of the Georgian border in a group.
