Batumi City Court to announce decision on Mzia Amaglobeli's case on 18 March
The Batumi City Court has concluded hearings in the administrative case of Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of media outlets “Batumelebi” and “Netgazeti.” The decision is expected on March 18.
Amaglobeli, who participated in the proceedings remotely, does not plead guilty. Her legal team alleges that the arrest report was falsified, claiming they possess video evidence to prove it.
According to official records, Amaglobeli was detained under Article 173 for allegedly insulting police officers. The incident occurred on January 11 when she was initially held for one hour on administrative charges near the Adjara Police Department. Following her release, she was re-arrested on criminal charges after allegedly slapping Batumi Police Chief Irakli Dgebuadze.
Amaglobeli denies all accusations and conducted a 38-day hunger strike in protest of her detention.
