The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has begun a state visit to Georgia.
An official welcoming ceremony was held in honour of Ilham Aliyev at the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, greeted the Azerbaijani President at the airport.
During his visit, President Aliyev is scheduled to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
An official reception for the Azerbaijani leader will take place at the Georgian Presidential Palace, followed by a bilateral meeting between Mikheil Kavelashvili and Ilham Aliyev.
The Prime Minister of Georgia will host President Aliyev at the Government Administration. The two leaders will hold both bilateral and expanded discussions, after which they will address the media with joint statements.
As part of his visit, President Aliyev will lay a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial in Heroes Square and pay tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev.
