Azerbaijan's PM Asadov: Joint megaprojects with Georgia exemplify successful regional cooperation and South Caucasus transformation
“The megaprojects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia are exemplary of successful regional collaboration and contribute to the transformation of the South Caucasus,” stated Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov during the opening of the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
He noted that these projects have reshaped the region’s energy and transportation landscape.
“In particular, we must highlight the Southern Corridor. Our countries play a significant role in the implementation of this strategic project. Gas supplies by SOCAR to the Georgian market continue. Our collaboration in the oil sector is also progressing successfully, with the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline transporting up to 30 million tons of oil last year. The issue of cooperation between the Kulevi terminal and the nearby oil refinery is currently relevant. A contract has already been signed in this regard, and the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products from the Kulevi terminal will commence shortly.
At the same time, we are building a bridge for green energy in Europe today. The Black Sea submarine energy cable project involves Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary. This project is a significant factor for Europe’s energy security,” Asadov emphasized.
