Attorney for Gonio+ company denies responsibility for metal framing collapse that injured worker

An attorney representing Next Gonio+ Construction Company has denied allegations that the company violated safety regulations during the incident that caused the collapse of metal framing, resulting in one worker’s injury.

The attorney explained that a subcontractor was responsible for performing the outdoor facade decoration work.

“The 26-storey building was already completed, and the cladding work was being carried out by a contracting company. Our company did not breach any safety rules. An investigation has been launched, and we should await its findings. As far as I know, four individuals were working on the scaffolding. I cannot provide details about the injured worker’s condition; I only know that he has been taken to a medical facility,” the attorney stated.

The incident occurred at a residential building under construction in Gonio Resort, located in the Adjara region, where metal framing collapsed, injuring one worker.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has opened an investigation under Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which addresses violations of safety regulations during construction, mining, or related activities.

The site has been cordoned off with a special barrier, and representatives from both the Criminal Police and Labour Inspection are present to oversee the scene.
