Archil Talakvadze calls on international observer mission to verify information about presumable physical assault of Maia Otinashvili

Archil Talakvadze, Leader of the Parliamentary Majority addresses the international observer mission and urges to verify the information about presumable physical assault of Maia Otinashvili, a 37-year-old Georgian woman who was detained by so-called “border guards” near the village Khurvaleti of Gori Municipality on September 29.

“The Ombudsman provided us with the distressing information about mistreatment of Maia Otinashvili,” Talakvadze said.

The leader of the Parliamentary Majority put full responsibility on the Russian Federation and said that the Georgian government was doing its best to ensure the Georgian woman’s safe return to her family.

“We will apply to all measures and reinforce efforts that all the international organizations and our partners became involved with the issue to timely react upon this alarming fact. The occupation regime keeps on practicing abduction of Georgian citizens. This is a harsh violation of human rights and the Russian Federation is responsible for it. Such facts will not hamper Georgia’s strive for freedom,” Talakvadze stated.

Georgia’s Public Defender Nino Lomjaria wrote on Facebook that according to the family Maia Otinashvili detained by Russian soldiers is physically assaulted.
