Archil Talakvadze asks facilitating ambassadors to shed light on the March 8 Agreement's content
The Chair of the Georgian Parliament, Archil Talkvadze said that “the radical opposition is taking advantage of the fact that the negotiations on the political agreement on the electoral system were not public, as well as of the fact that diplomatic rules require ambassadors to exercise the utmost restraint with regard to disclosing the content of closed meetings to the public, and they are making use of precisely this factor to fuel speculation.”
Talakvadze noted that “facilitating ambassadors played an invaluable and decisive role in the successful conclusion of the negotiations.”
“It is alarming that this result, which was obtained through the efforts of the ambassadors, may be jeopardized by the irresponsibility of the radical opposition. Correspondingly, in order to end all speculation and ensure the fulfilment of the agreement, we ask the ambassadors facilitating the negotiations to shed light on the contents of the agreement,” Talakvadze stressed.
The Chair of the Georgian Parliament “asked facilitating ambassadors to publicly confirm that government has not assumed the obligation to give illegal instructions to the president, the court, and the Prosecutor’s Office, and to release Ugulava, Okruashvili, and Rurua under the signed agreement.”
“We also ask that they provide an objective assessment of the role of each signatory in the process of implementing the agreement,” Talkvadze stated.
