Anti-Namakhvani protest organizer says large-scale rally to be held in Tbilisi

Varlam Goletiani, one of the organizers of Anti-Namakhvani HPP protests said that a large-scale rally would be held in Tbilisi on May 23. Protests will be organized in different cities on Saturday.

“We preferred resolving of issues through a dialog. However, the government tries to shift the vector to avoid contextual discussions. We have to solve the problem with our abundance and unity,” Goletiani claimed.

Government of Georgia made several decisions over the disputed Namakhvani HPP construction in the Rioni Gorge.

Opponents of Namakhvani HPP construction have been rallying for over 5 months. They are concerned that HPP construction could harm the environment.
