Anri Okhanashvili resigns as SSSG Head
Anri Okhanashvili has resigned as Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).
In a statement released on social networks by the SSSG, Okanashvili said that he would assume the position of the Prime Minister’s Advisor on national security affairs.
“Amid current global challenges, the world and regional security face new challenges affecting our country’s security. Taking all this into account, the Government of Georgia attaches great importance to the analytical processing of information on these challenges and the development of recommendations for response measures. I believe my experience and knowledge will support me in successfully coping with analytical activities in national security affairs.
At the same time, I remain a keen supporter of the State Security Service. I wish to extend my gratitude to the service staff for our jointly implemented successful activities in a short span of time. I wish success to the future head and each employee,” reads Okhanashvili’s statement.
