Amendments to be made into the rule on pardoning

Amendments will be made into the rule on pardoning and it becomes more humane in relation to the non-violent crimes, offenses which are not committed with violence or threat of violence, – Zviad Koridze, Chairman of the State Pardoning Commission made the regarding statement at the press conference held today.

As Koridze noted, President of Georgia gave the Pardoning Commission the opportunity to consider, without the timeframe criterion, the requests of the convicts, who committed drug offenses, except those who were engaged in the drug selling, purchase-storage, import and transit.

According to the chairman of the Pardoning Commission, persons can apply to the president immediately after the trial is over in three courts or the time for appeals in higher instances will expire.
