Aleko Elisashvili: I want to ask GD leaders what they will do If Russian Prosecutor's Office demands my arrest and extradition
“I want to ask Georgian Dream leaders what they plan or what they will do if Russia’s General Prosecutor’s Office demands my extradition, meaning if the Russian state requests the Georgian state to arrest and hand over a Georgian citizen to Russia?” stated Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo – For a Strong Georgia coalition, at a briefing.
According to him, an attack against the coalition is connected to his decision “to enter a sacrificial electoral battle.”
“24 hours have passed since Russia declared an international search for me and Georgian Dream makes no comment as if nothing has happened.
It is very clear and obvious that Georgian Dream’s silence is proof that a coordinated, massive attack from Russia is precisely underway against the coalition Lelo – For a Strong Georgia and this is connected to our decision to enter a sacrificial electoral battle.
They are attacking us from all sides. They see that the number of our supporters is growing as a result of coordinated actions by our party and Gakharia’s party. We are confident that we will overcome all this, we will endure and we will change this reality on October 4th,” Aleko Elisashvili stated.
Russian Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement on August 4th that it had declared an international search for Aleko Elisashvili. According to the statement published on the Russian prosecutor’s office website, “he is charged in absentia with participation in an armed conflict as a mercenary.”
