Adjara police arrest two foreign nationals on drug-related charges

Officers from the Adjara Main Department of the Central Criminal Police, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), have detained two citizens of the Republic of Turkey, identified as O.T., born in 1986, and M.G., born in 1999, in Batumi on suspicion of illegally purchasing and storing large, and particularly large, quantities of psychotropic substances.

Following searches of the personal and residential premises of the suspects, law enforcement officers uncovered a substantial quantity of the psychotropic drug Pregabalin.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 261, Parts 2 and 3, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 12 years’ imprisonment, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated in a press release.
