Adjara police arrest foreign national on drug trafficking charges

Officers from the Adjara Main Department of the Central Criminal Police, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), have detained a foreign national on suspicion of drug trafficking.

The individual, a Ukrainian citizen born in 2005, was apprehended in Batumi on allegations of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage, and sale of a substantial quantity of narcotics.

During a search of the suspect’s temporary residence, law enforcement officers seized a significant amount of the narcotic substance Methadone, prepared for sale, which is now being held as evidence.

Additionally, materials necessary for packaging narcotics were confiscated.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 260-4, Parts 3 and 6, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code, which envisage penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
