Additional 6-km section of Samtredia-Grigoleti highway opens
The construction of the third part of the 12 km-long section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti has been completed, and the traffic has been fully opened.
The 6-km Lanchkhuti-Lesa part opened in 2025, while the remaining 6 km has entered into operation.
A 12 km-long road with 4 lanes and asphalt-concrete cover, 6 bridges and connecting paths were arranged within the framework of the project.
The new road connects Lanchkhuti town of the Guria region with Gvimbalauri, Kvemo Chibati and Nigoeti villages.
The 52-kilometre Samtredia-Grigoleti highway is being constructed in four sections. Currently, traffic is fully open on the second, third, and fourth sections, while work continues on the first section. It will be completed in 2027.
The Samtredia-Grigoleti road is a significant section of the East-West International Highway (E60). The 52-kilometre road begins at the Zestaphoni-Kutaisi bypass and ends in Grigoleti, near the Supsa River.
The project will reduce travel time, improve traffic safety and make international transit movement more efficient.
The construction of the third section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti road was carried out using funds from the Georgian state budget and a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The project cost is 324.6 million GEL.
