Georgian Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister, Irakli Karseladze, Finance Minister, Lasha Khutsishvili and President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Masatsugu Asakawa inspected the 9-kilometer-long Kvesheti-Kobi Tunnel construction works.
The construction is carried out within the framefork of a loan agreement concluded with the ADB and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of GEL 1.2 billion.
The 90% of works at the largest tunnel in Georgia is complete. Within the same project, construction of a 5-kilometer-long road leading to Gudauri ski resort and a tourist center are also planned.
According to the Ministry, no traffic restrictions would be necessary in winter when the tunnel is complete and the new project would reduce the travel time to Gudauri.
