A commission tasked with overseeing the construction of a new stadium in Tbilisi has selected a site situated between the Lugar Research Center and Black Sea University, near Tbilisi Airport, for a 70,000-seat facility, the Government Administration announced.
According to a government decree signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the project will be executed by the Municipal Development Fund, with specific responsibilities delegated to various state agencies.
The new stadium is designed to establish Georgia as a leading destination for major international football and rugby tournaments while also anticipated to attract substantial investment in the sports industry.
Beyond sporting events, the complex will feature cutting-edge concert infrastructure and a convention centre.
Designed in collaboration with UEFA experts, the multifunctional stadium will serve as a premier hub for sports, entertainment, and conventions.
