UNM Political Council to define snap elections in 2021

The political council defined the will of the United National Movement. We have decided that early snap elections should be held in 2021, UNM representative Khatia Dekanoidze declared.

Khatia Dekanoidze commented on the statement of Lelo for Georgia party Mamuka Khazaradze that they believe that proportional elections will be held with a natural threshold in the spring of 2022.

“Mamuka Khazaradze and various political parties have full authority and legitimacy to make any statement, including talking about any terms that are acceptable to them. But the will of the United National Movement is that early snap elections should be held in 2021,” Dekanoidze said.

UNM member added it is too early to talk about the deadlines because the Georgian Dream did not come up with any compromise proposal. UNM does not take seriously a memorandum signed between the Georgian Dream and “pseudo-opposition”, she said.

Khatia Dekanoidze claimed the ruling party must take a step first, as it has a greater responsibility than the opposition and the citizens of Georgia.
