Three organizations hold protest at Embassy of France

Representatives of three organizations held a protest at the Embassy of France in Georgia in objection to awarding Giorgi Tabagari, Organizer of Tbilisi Pride by French Foreign Ministry in the nomination “Persona of Future.”

Participants of the activity claimed that Tabagari was a representative of the LGBT Community and assignation of the status to him was an insult of the Georgian nation. The protesters demanded an apology from the Embassy of France.

The Embassy representatives met with the activists before the protest. Leader of the Society for Protection of Children’s Rights Guram Palavandishvili handed over a letter to Deputy French Ambassador with the demand for an apology. “We respect French people but the move was a challenge for the Georgian nation,” Palavandishvili said.
