Muslim, Christian residents of Buknari village reach agreement

The mosque construction issue finally settled following the meeting between Muslim and Christian residents of Buknari village and the government representatives on Friday.

The meeting attendees believe the recent developments in the village was a provocation.

“I am glad that the incident has resolved. The Muslim and Orthodox communities agreed that some persons set up a provocation resulted in a shameful outcome,” said the Parliament member Nino Tsilosani.

“We solved this problem peacefully. We did not follow some persons provocative statements,” said the Muslim community member, Temur Iremadze.

Earlier this week, the Muslim community and Christian residents of Buknari village clashed over mosque construction in Buknari village. The Christian dwellers opposed the Muslim community’s request for arranging a mosque.
