Landslide processes in Tbilisi (PHOTO/VIDEO)

Landslide processes have activated on Machavariani Street and nearby slopes in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.

Tbilisi City Hall vows the relevant services have been actively working in this regard. German geoengineers will also involve in this process.

Deputy Tbilisi Mayor Irakli Bendeliani echoed reports by some media outlets about the alleged emergency evacuation on this area. “This is a lie and serves to sow panic in the society,” he declared.

“City Hall services and field specialists are engaged to solve this problem. We are observing several recommendations issued by the experts. Firstly, we have blocked Machavariani Street. We are constantly monitoring the landslide processes,” Deputy Mayor said.

Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili added the National Environment Agency experts would involve in the study if needed.

Traffic on Machavariani street was restricted on March 16.
