Duma approves Mishustin as PM

Russia’s State Duma has voted to approve President Vladimir Putin’s nominee, Mikhail Mishustin, as new prime minister earlier today.

Mikhail Mishustin has worked in the government since 1998 and has been head of the Federal Tax Service since 2010.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced on Wednesday that the entire Russian government is resigning after Vladimir Putin proposed constitutional amendments that would strengthen the powers of the prime minister and parliament at the expense of the presidency.
