Archpriest Andria Jaghmaidze – Church does not interfere in pre-election processes

The official standpoint of the Georgian Patriarchate is that the church abstains from interfering into pre-election processes – Archpriest Andria Jaghmaidze made this statement in an interview with First Channel.

“I think that Church persons should not interfere into election processes and this was also the wish of His Holiness and Beatitude,” Archpriest said.

Jaghmaidze also commented about the viewpoint of Salome Zurabishvili, an independent presidential candidate about the Concordat concluded between the government and Orthodox Church.

“There are many things in the Concordat to be précised. Some things have to be brought into compliance with Constitution and other legal acts,” Archpriest Andria Jaghmaidze claimed.
