Catholicos-Patriarch meets with Ambassadors

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II met with representatives of Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia. Thirty-six Ambassadors attended the meeting.

According to Head of the Patriarchate’s Press Center, Archpriest Andria Jaghmaidze, the situation at occupied territories, illegal abduction of Georgian locals and illegal detention of Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili by the occupational regime were the main topics for discussions.

“Talks were held about the role of the Georgian church and Patriarch in public life and the readiness of the Patriarchate to uphold relations with diplomats in any format and on any topic,” Jaghmaidze said.

Jaghmaidze said that the ambassadors were informed about the recent visit of the delegation of the Georgian church in Brussels. “We asked in Brussels to make all efforts to end illegal detentions that is the main problem for Georgia,” Archipriest claimed.

Catholicos Patriarch thanked the ambassadors for cooperation. The choir of Patriarch’s Godchildren performed several songs composed by Ilia II.
