Public screenings of the World Cup football matches will be hosted at First Republic Square starting from July 9.

As Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze highlighted during a municipal government meeting, football fans heading to the square can look forward to a vibrant line-up of activities ahead of the match broadcasts.

“We have some fantastic news for football fans. As mentioned during our previous government meetings, we committed to installing a giant screen at First Republic Square so fans could come together to enjoy the World Cup. Organised by Tbilisi City Hall in partnership with the television channel Rustavi 2, the public screenings will run at the square from July 9 to 19.

We are also setting up a dedicated fan zone. On the opening evening of July 9, entertainment will kick off at 9:00 pm before the match begins. For the remaining days, the pre-match activities will start four hours ahead of kick-off,” Kakha Kaladze has said.

The Mayor further noted that over the course of the 10-day event, First Republic Square will also host live, open-air talks featuring legends of Georgian football.

“On dates when no matches are scheduled for broadcast, the fan zone will remain open from 7:00 pm. Visitors will find a diverse selection of food and drink stalls, relaxation areas, the Georgian Football Federation’s official fan shop, and an interactive zone run by the Georgian Cyber Football Federation. For our younger fans, a dedicated children’s area will host daily football-themed activities and prize draws, where children can get their faces painted and take souvenir photos.

Furthermore, with the support of the Football Federation, legends of Georgian football will visit First Republic Square over these ten days to hold open discussions about the ongoing World Cup and the beautiful game in general.

Everyone is warmly invited. We have a highly thrilling spectacle ahead of us,” Kakha Kaladze added.
