Increase of accessibility to the quality education among youngsters with special educational needs is one of the main priorities for the Georgian government, said Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli in a statement released on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day observed on April 2.
According to the Minister, the government carries out different projects to support inclusive learning and the role of teachers is of utmost significance in this regard.
“Every person is born with a unique talent that deserves respect of each of us. It is the responsibility of the government, private sector and the whole society to support to realize the skills and potential of these people, to ensure their active involvement in the development of the country and planning their future, to care about their health, education, employment and other rights,” said Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.
World Autism Awareness Day is observed on April 2. The day recognizes and spreads awareness for the rights of people with autism.
